BEHAVIORAL EVALUATIONS

A behavioral appointment is the first step toward helping your dog overcome challenges related to fear, aggression, anxiety, or reactivity. During these private sessions at our facility, one of our experienced behavioral specialists works closely with you, your dog, and your family to better understand your dog’s unique needs and create a fully customized training plan. Our approach focuses on building confidence, improving communication, and teaching practical skills that help dogs make better choices in everyday situations. Through carefully structured exercises and thoughtful progression, we help dogs gradually work through triggers, develop stronger impulse control, and create lasting behavioral change. Every program is designed to support both the dog and owner, providing the guidance, education, and tools needed to build a safer, more successful relationship.

BOARD N’ TRAIN

Our Board & Train program is designed for owners who want a well-mannered, reliable dog but may not have the time to attend regular training classes. Each dog receives a customized training plan tailored to their individual needs, goals, personality, and experience level while staying in a safe and structured environment. Our experienced trainers work on obedience, manners, confidence-building, and everyday life skills through consistent daily training and reinforcement. We also focus on teaching owners how to maintain and continue their dog’s progress at home, creating long-term success for both you and your dog.

DAY TRAIN

Our Day Training program is designed to be a true partnership between the trainer, owner, and dog. After developing an individualized training plan based on your goals, our trainers work directly with your dog during the day to build skills, confidence, and reliability in a structured environment. Owners are then guided through the training process with hands-on coaching and practical instruction to help reinforce those skills at home and in everyday situations. This balanced approach creates clear communication, consistency, and long-term success for both dogs and their families.

A.K.C. Canine Good Citizen CERTIFICATION

The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) program helps dogs learn the polite, everyday manners needed to be great companions at home and out in the community. The program focuses on responsible dog ownership and practical skills like loose-leash walking, coming when called, and staying calm around people and other dogs.

Dogs who successfully complete the 10-skill CGC evaluation earn an official certificate from the American Kennel Club (AKC).

CGC testing is typically offered about every 6 weeks. Please contact the facility for current testing dates and to schedule an evaluation.

You are not required to take this class to test for certification.

At WestInn Kennels, we offer classes designed to prepare both dogs and handlers for the Pet Partners evaluation. Teams are evaluated together, with an emphasis on safe handling, appropriate behavior, and positive interactions.

Therapy team evaluations are typically offered once per quarter . Please contact the facility for upcoming dates and additional information.

Hear from our happy customers!

"We have been taking our dogs here for over 10 years and would not take them anywhere else. We have never been disappointed with the care they have received at Westinn Kennels, as opposed to other, larger kennels in the area. The staff is always friendly and courteous, even when they are getting slammed with customers."

“Reasonably priced, usually a coupon available in the paper. Very knowledgeable and good with my dogs. Truly everything under one roof.”

“We have boarded our dogs at Westinn in Dardenne Prairie for 15 years and love it. As soon as the suitcases come out, our dogs are ready to go. Once inside the office area, they stand waiting at the next door to get back to the kennel area, tails wagging in anticipation. The staff is pleasant, efficient, compassionate and VERY competent.”

“Just picked up my fur babies from their first kennel stay at Westinn B & B in Dardenne Prairie. Full disclosure, someone close to me works there but was not there during my dogs stay. The staff is sweet, knowledgeable, and well trained! My dogs both did great, and as one of them is 15 years old, I was extra nervous for her. She was relaxed and happy when we picked her up. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience for their first kennel stay!”
